Time for another look at crime in SFPD's Central District, which includes Chinatown, Financial District, Embarcadero, Russian, Telegraph and Nob Hills, North Beach, and Union Square.

In this week's Central Station newsletter, Captain Paul Yep said residents will continue to see a heightened police presence in the "Central District shopping corridors and at our city’s attractions." And "as always, if you see something, say something."

If you're "celebrating New Year's Eve in San Francisco," Yep continued, "text the phrase NYESF17 to 888-777 to receive emergency text messages alerts related to New Year’s Eve events" in the city.

Here are some of the incidents that have taken place since our last biweekly report. Unless otherwise noted, all reports are drawn from SFPD's summary.

On December 28th at 10pm near the corner of Washington and Leavenworth Streets in Nob Hill, a 62-year-old woman was robbed.

The victim was walking eastbound on Washington Street when two male suspects in their early twenties approached her and "grabbed her by the arms." One suspect snatched her handbag containing cash and a cell phone and the other pushed her to the ground before both robbers fled in an unknown vehicle.

Argument escalates to assault with bottle

The two victims were fighting with two male suspects in their twenties and one of the suspects punched one of the victims. When his companion intervened by attempting to push the attacker, one of the other suspects struck him with a bottle. The two suspects then got into an unknown car and fled east bound on Broadway.

Both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to an area hospital.
