Richmond Police Tackle Week of Crime: Arrests Made in Shootings, Burglaries, and Evading OfficersSource: Richmond Police Department

The Richmond Police Department released a report detailing a spate of crime incidents that swept through the area from February 26 to March 3. The report, which outlines several significant activities that RPD patrol officers encountered, clarifies that the shared overview does not encompass all service calls and reports taken during the period.

On February 26, officers hastened to the 100 block of Gerrard Blvd in response to a ShotSpotter activation, a system designed to detect gunfire. According to the RPD report published on Facebook, the area was found scattered with numerous casings, but neither victims nor property damage was apparent upon their arrival.

The following day, a suspect was caught during an auto burglary on the 1200 block of Fed Jackson Way. The victim's belongings, including her wallet, were found on the individual, who was subsequently arrested without further incidents.

February 28 was a particularly turbulent day, seeing both a felony hit-and-run with injuries at the intersection of Cutting and Carlson and an attempted carjacking on the 400 block of Dimm St. Officers in the area observed a serious vehicle collision where the suspect vehicle fled the scene. After a short pursuit, the vehicle stopped, and the driver was apprehended. Later that same day, another victim reported being assaulted in an attempted carjacking but managed to escape his assailant, who police later arrested.

Officers also tackled incidents of evading a peace officer and armed robbery on February 29. A driver performing illegal vehicular stunts refused to yield to officers but was later tracked down with his vehicle impounded. In a separate incident, a suspect brandishing a firearm robbed two individuals of their purses.

A trio implicated in a commercial burglary was disrupted by the police on March 1, with two of the culprits being detained near the crime scene. The following day, a notification from a flock camera, which detects stolen vehicles, led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of its occupant.

To cap off the week, March 2 also registered a case of vandalism and possession of burglary tools. Responding to reports of a trio trying to enter a building forcibly, officers succeeded in stopping the suspect vehicle and apprehended all occupants.
