A Dallas truck driver has admitted to his part in a sprawling cocaine distribution network, authorities said. Javier Robledo Perez, 39, entered a guilty plea in federal court in Worcester on April 26, 2024, acknowledging his involvement in a conspiracy to traffic substantial quantities of cocaine across state lines.

According to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Perez was caught transporting around 30 kilograms of cocaine for a drug ring straddling Mexico and Texas, having used his commercial vehicle to ferry the drugs. Wrapped in thirty vacuum-sealed bricks, the cocaine was seized by law enforcement when Perez, who stopped while entering Massachusetts, committed to the delivery to a cooperating witness in May 2020.

Under the twin charges of conspiracy and the intention to distribute cocaine weighing over five kilograms each, Perez faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years, stretching up to a possible life term. His sentencing, set for July 19, 2024, by U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman, could also include at least five years of supervised release and a fine up to $10 million.

The collaborative efforts of the FBI, the Massachusetts State Police, and the Drug Enforcement Administration's Laredo and Dallas Divisions played a significant role in the bust. Announcing the guilty plea, valued assistance was provided by these agencies to pinpoint Perez's criminal conduct.

This case falls under the jurisdiction of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), a multi-agency collaboration focusing on obliterating the most severe criminal organizations threatening the United States. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alathea Porter is responsible for the prosecution. Acting U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy, alongside officials from the FBI and interim Colonel John E. Mawn, Jr. of the Massachusetts State Police, made the formal announcement regarding Perez's plea.
