Duluth Invites Public Input on Eklund Avenue Project at Emanuel Baptist Church MeetingSource: Facebook/City of Duluth, MN Government

The City of Duluth will be opening its doors, to the community on April 30 for a public meeting concerning the Eklund Avenue Project. The meeting will be held at 4:30 pm at Emanuel Baptist Church-Duluth Heights situated on the stretch of Eklund Ave that's being targeted for improvement, as per the City of Duluth, MN Government.

According to the City of Duluth, MN Government , the project, officially dubbed City Project 2091, encompasses the area between Swan Lake Road and Maple Grove Road. One of its critical objectives is to address the issue of traffic calming by looking to minimize cut-through traffic and vehicle speed – making the roads safer and quieter for the local residents.

As it stands, Eklund Avenue sports a rural section where pedestrians find themselves in harm's way, having to walk on the roadway shoulder. The upcoming redesign aims to rectify this by including a dedicated pedestrian pathway. Moreover, the project is tasked with better managing the stormwater runoff, an issue exacerbated by the area's current rural ditch setup within a narrow corridor.
