Texans wide receiver Tank Dell was caught in the crossfire of a shooting at a Florida party venue, sustaining minor injuries, the team confirmed. Dell, a promising talent for the Houston Texans, was one of ten victims injured during the incident that took place at Cabana Live in Sanford, Florida. "We have been made aware that Tank Dell was a victim of a shooting," the Texans said in a statement posted to social media. "He sustained a minor wound but has been released from the hospital and he is in good spirits,"  as reported by CBS News.

The altercation, which quickly escalated to gunfire, began following a verbal dispute early Sunday morning. A 16-year-old suspect is reported to have been arrested by authorities in connection with the shooting. "A security guard tackled and disarmed the shooter almost immediately, while a second guard handcuffed him until sheriff’s deputies arrived," according to the Houston Chronicle. Fortunately, the Seminole County Sheriff's Office has confirmed none of the victims are facing life-threatening conditions.

Dell was in town to visit his mother in his hometown of Daytona Beach, which is situated approximately 40 miles from the scene of the shooting. Drafted in the 2023 third round, the NFL rookie had notched 47 catches for 709 yards and seven touchdowns before a late-season injury put a premature end to his first-year campaign. The Texans have asked the public to respect their player's privacy, with further updates pending. “We are in contact with him and his family and will provide more updates when appropriate,” said a Texans spokesperson.

Dell had only recently made a recovery from a leg injury, missing the last five games of the season and the playoffs. Now, he faces another hurdle as he was preparing to join Phase 2 of the team's offseason program starting Monday. "We ask that you please respect his privacy at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in the incident," the Texans reiterated in their announcement of the unsettling event.
