The National Weather Service confirmed that an EF-1 tornado with winds reaching 110 mph ravaged the area on Sunday morning, leaving a trail of destruction that spanned almost 5 miles and measured 20 yards wide.

Cleanup crews were out in force along U.S. 290 in Manor, where a billboard was spotted lying crumpled against an Exxon gas station—an unsettling sign of the storm's ferocity. Café 290 manager Elisabeth Balderas recounted the chaos of the incident, saying, "They just saw that whole thing crash into the building, and people were trying to get off the road really fast and go for shelter,"  according to CBS Austin. Meanwhile, residents of the ShadowGlen subdivision are dealing with their own aftermath – a landscape of overturned fences and battered homes, where mere memories of serenity linger.

Over in South Austin, the damage was less severe but still notable. A massive oak tree was uprooted and sent sprawling into the street, leaving residents like Abby Knedlik to describe the tempest's roar as per CBS Austin, “It sounded like a tornado was going on outside.” The thunderstorms left nearly 20,000 Austin Energy customers without power on Sunday morning, but by Monday afternoon, the number of affected customers had been reduced to less than 300.

As Texans pick up the pieces, the Texas Division of Emergency Management is urging those impacted to report the damage. An online survey is set up to collate data that will be indispensable for recovery efforts. Amid the shattered glass and splintered wood, a community's spirit is found unyielding, echoing the resolve heard in Rodney Espinoza's words, “Mother nature is nothing to fool with.
