Early Friday morning turned into a crime scene when Naperville Police clamped down on a trio suspected of attempting a motor vehicle burglary. According to a recent press release by the local police department, officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Westminster Drive around 5:53 A.M. after reports of a suspect testing car doors. They found three individuals in a car, who then tried to make a run for it but didn't get far before they were detained.
The attempted getaway ended with all three suspects in handcuffs. Two were juveniles and the third, an adult named John J. Bailey, 19, was charged alongside the minors with one count of Burglary, a class 3 felony, and multiple misdemeanors, though it wasn't immediately clear what those misdemeanors were.
Naperville's top cop had words of praise for the team's prompt response. "This was excellent work by the responding patrol officers who were able to apprehend these subjects and by the detectives who conducted a thorough follow-up," Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres stated in the press release. The partnership between the police and vigilant locals, who alerted authorities after a 'Naper Notify' message, played a vital role in the incident's resolution, with Arres emphasizing the communal effort to keep the city safe.
