In what appears to be an act of retaliation, Jahir Hernandez, a 19-year-old man from Nashville, has been charged with the murder of Javier Palafox-Garcia after turning himself in to authorities late Friday. The Nashville Police Department reported that Palafox-Garcia's body was found just after 9 p.m. on Friday in the 700 block of Patricia Drive.

According to officials, Hernandez admitted to meeting with the victim on Friday night with the intent to end his life violently, as he claimed Palafox-Garcia had previously sexually assaulted him four years prior, an assault that was never reported to law enforcement. Hernandez allegedly confessed to shooting Palafox-Garcia multiple times immediately after he entered the passenger seat of his car, then driving to Patricia Drive, where he disposed of the body.

Details of the gruesome scene suggest Hernandez went to further lengths to ensure the death of his assailant, as he indicated he then drove over Palafox-Garcia's body at a high rate of speed. The night of the incident, Hernandez presented himself to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office at around 11:30 p.m., claiming he had killed a man and wished to submit to custody.

Hernandez was subsequently transported to the MNPD headquarters for questioning and now faces a criminal homicide charge, with the bond being set at $350,000.
