Repeat Offender: Mexican "Tango Blast" Gang Member Caught After Multiple Illegal US EntriesSource: U.S. Customs and Border Protection

Border Patrol agents caught a Mexican gang member with a long history of illegal U.S. entry, raising concerns about border security. Fox News reports the individual, associated with the "Tango Blast" gang, has been arrested multiple times under different names.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Patrol Chief Jason Owens highlighted the recurrent issue of individuals trying and failing to illegally cross the border multiple times. "Certainty of arrest & consequences = Border Security = the only way to stop subjects like this," Owens conveyed in a report by FOX San Antonio. This year's apprehension of 248 gang members to date marks a serious ongoing concern compared to the 636 caught in the entire previous year.

The Biden administration has taken steps to curb the issue of recidivism – repeat instances of deported individuals attempting to illegally re-enter the U.S. – by ramping up penalties post the termination of Title 42. Additionally, the administration has opposed a Texan law initiated by Governor Greg Abbott that sought to categorize illegal entry as a state offense, empowering police to step in and make arrests.

Despite these efforts, the contentious discussion over immigration policies continues unabated. Republicans urge a policy reversal they believe will remedy the historic border issues, while the Biden administration claims it requires further funding and comprehensive reform from Congress. A bipartisan Senate bill, backed by the administration, has yet to gather enough support to pass. Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, notably called attention to the dangers posed by the infiltration of violent foreign gangs like the Venezuelan Tren De Aragua, as per Fox News.
