Round Rock Embraces Its Roots with Historic Preservation Month Celebration in MaySource: Round Rock Texas

Round Rock is stepping back in time this May, as the city council declares the month a time to celebrate the city's historical treasures. Residents are gearing up for a series of events that will showcase the city's rich past, according to Round Rock Texas.

In a move that bolsters heritage pride, the Round Rock City Council's proclamation for National Preservation Month also comes with a generous $53,000 check donated by the Round Rock Preservation. Raising the sum through local efforts, including an engraved brick campaign, the non-profit is contributing to restoring the City-owned Stagecoach Inn. With restoration work already underway, the historic inn is soon to be a significant point on the Heritage Trail West project.

Making the announcement, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, established in 1973, the importance of the month as an occasion for local preservation groups and civic organizations to throw a spotlight on preservation efforts and heritage tourism, as per the Round Rock Texas. These activities are not just acts of looking back – they are resurrecting the bones of Round Rock's Old Town area for the gaze of future generations.

As part of the festivities, Round Rock preservation groups are kicking off Pioneer Day on May 4, hosted by the Williamson Museum and the Old Settlers Association. Adding to the historical experiences, students from Pierce Middle School will present projects that dive deep into the city's backstory at a Lunch and Learn event scheduled for May 13.
