Saugatuck Brewing Partners with Michigan DNR to Fund Habitat Restoration with Special IPA SalesSource: Google Street View

In a nod to conservation efforts, Saugatuck Brewing Company and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources are teaming up for a collaboration aimed at raising funds for habitat restoration during trout season. From May through October, a portion of the proceeds from each case of Rainbow Rodeo IPA sold will go towards the DNR's projects to protect and improve environments vital for Michigan's fish and wildlife populations.

Officials announced the partnership last Thursday, showcasing their angling allegiances against the backdrop of the Rogue River, a hub for fishing enthusiasts. Saugatuck Brewing's Rainbow Rodeo IPA isn't just another beer—it's a commitment in a can. Scott Bowen, Director of the Michigan DNR, emphasized the significance of this joint effort to ClickOnDetroit, stating, "I firmly believe that by working together, we can preserve and protect Michigan's natural treasures for generations to come."

The DNR shoulders responsibility for a whopping 4.6 million acres of state land. Saugatuck Brewing CEO John Miller shares an equally robust vision for the partnership, telling Michigan's DNR newsroom, "As a ‘lifestyle brand’ focusing attention and resources to help participate in projects like this is at the center of our values and a perfect fit for the brand Rainbow Rodeo to lead."

Following the money, the DNR says this collaboration will focus on the fight against invasive species, bolstering fish populations, and securing sustainable fishing practices for Michigan's future anglers. It's no drop in the ocean; the habitat restoration efforts are a crucial part of maintaining the freshwater state's diverse ecosystems. “We are beyond excited about joining the DNR in finding new ways to help solve old problems,” Miller added in the partnership announcement.

But it's not all business. For the community at large, Saugatuck Brewing is extending an invitation to chip in. Donations are being accepted through September 30, offering those who can't resist the lure of environmental stewardship to have their say and their sway in maintaining Michigan’s pristine waterways. Sara VanSplinter, Saugatuck Brewing's Director of Marketing, expressed her hope to Michigan's DNR: "Beer brings people together, and we need a little more of that to help rebuild and continue celebrating our beautiful backyard that is Michigan." Whether you fish, sip, or just cherish the great outdoors, this Brewmaster's classic American IPA at a sturdy 7% is casting wide for support.
