Union City Police Seize Weapons and Drugs in Raid on Suspected Dispensary BurglarsSource: Union City Police Department

Authorities in Union City cracked down on a gang of suspects linked to the break-in at a local pot shop, Lemonnade Dispensary, nabbing five and seizing an arsenal of weapons and drugs in a series of raids. The Union City Police Department (UCPD) Special Services Unit (SSU), along with the UCPD Investigations Unit and support from nearby forces, conducted a meticulous probe into the burglary, with the operation culminating in multiple searches and arrests earlier this week.

On April 12 and April 16, the SSU descended on several locations executing search and arrest warrants, which resulted in five adults being taken into custody for a variety of offenses, and what the team uncovered wasn't just fingerprints and a few stray nuggets of weed but a veritable trove of illicit goods: firearms, stolen cars, drugs, high-capacity gun magazines, and cash. According to the Union City Police Department's Facebook page, "five firearms were recovered along with two stolen vehicles, approximately 3.7 ounces of suspected cocaine, 8.8 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, over seven pounds of suspected marijuana, high-capacity magazines, ammunition, and over $11,500 in US currency."

The SSU's investigation into the dispensary heist had been ongoing for months prior to the dramatic takedown.
