Harris is not new to the grassroots engagement; her travel log shows more than 35 visits to 16 states since the start of 2024 alone, emphasizing small business growth particularly in underserved communities, which have reportedly resulted in the fastest creation of Black-owned businesses in over three decades, while also touting job creation, accessible capital for marginalized populations, enhancements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, the lowering of childcare costs, and various wealth-building measures the administration has embarked on, Harris said in a statement, "President Biden and I are committed to creating an economy in which every person has the freedom to thrive" and has delivered "great progress" with the promise of further investment in American families and their futures, achievements she's eager to discuss on her tour, as reported by FOX5 Atlanta.
The Vice President's office has highlighted several significant initiatives, including a recent trip to Black Wall Street in Durham, NC, to herald $32 million aimed at historically underserved entrepreneurs and a Las Vegas, NV, early-year visit where she announced a Small Business Administration (SBA) rule change to help previously incarcerated Americans. Last year, Harris reported that over $1.73 billion in grants were distributed to 603 Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) across the nation, and she also showcased the Economic Opportunity Coalition (EOC), which marked an unprecedented public-private partnership designed to drive billions into economically disadvantaged areas.
