Austin's Long Center is hitting all the right notes with the announcement of its free Drop-In Concert Series, a music lover's haven that’s tuning up to rock the lawn this summer from May 23 to August 15. Every Thursday—except July 4—will feature performances from Austin's local music scene, reported by Austin's CultureMap. This no-cost series is a massive draw for the community, featuring a host of bands that have become staples in Austin's festival circuit, spanning genres from Latin funk to blues and hip-hop.

According to CBS Austin, the Long Center, which is also celebrating its "15 Years Long" anniversary, will even showcase the world's first 3D-printed performance pavilion. Local favorites Alejandro Escovedo, JaRon Marshall & The Collective, and Melissa Carper are among the performers slated to grace this pioneering stage. Notably, the Long Center is featuring a lineup with more than 90% BIPOC and women artists, a clear nod to diversity and inclusivity.

Cory Baker, the Long Center President & CEO, expressed excitement for the season, "It’s back and it is better than ever! We welcome everyone to the Drop-In which furthers our mission of being the most inclusive, diverse music and arts hub right in the heart of our city," Baker told CBS Austin. The festivities will evoke a block party vibe, offering up not just free tunes but also a DJ, rotating pre-show performances, food trucks, and a full bar to keep the atmosphere lively and the spirits high.

As for the specifics of the free concert experience, details such as the full lineup were disclosed by CultureMap, featuring acts like Selena tribute band Bidi Bidi Banda, Grupo Fantasma, and Riders Against the Storm. However, the Long Center is keeping things intriguing, only announcing each upcoming show a week prior. Austinites can RSVP starting on Mondays after the preceding Friday’s performance to snag their spot for the next act.

While dogs, lawn chairs, and blankets are welcome guests, humans looking to enhance their experience can opt for Long Center membership. This will secure them priority RSVPs, a swifter entry through the expedited Member line, and access to two Member's Lounges with private bars and seating, among other perks. As a cherry on top, new members signing up during the series can even snag a free T-shirt, while they last, says CultureMap. This series is a resounding chord in the melody that is Austin's vibrant cultural scene, bringing people, pets, and performers together under the open Texas sky.
