Chester Horror, Duo Charged with Torturing, Murdering 12-Year-Old in Gruesome Child Abuse CaseSource: Facebook/Chester County District Attorney

A father and his girlfriend are behind bars, facing charges for the torture and killing of a 12-year-old Chester County girl, authorities said. The victim, identified as Malinda, weighed just 50 pounds and exhibited signs of prolonged abuse when she was found by officers in the back of a pickup truck, as per officials.

Chester County prosecutors have accused the couple, identified as Rendell Hoagland and his girlfriend Cindy Warren, of a horrific pattern of abuse that included shackling the girl to furniture and denying her food. Chester County District Attorney Christopher L. de Barrena-Sarobe described the circumstances as "ongoing" and "systematic," with the abuse captured on videos that were later recovered from deleted cell phone files, according to NBC Philadelphia.

The child had been removed from her school in November and enrolled in cyber school at home, during which time it appears her access to the outside world was severely restricted. "Malinda was subjected to evil and torment that no child should ever have to endure," de Barrena-Sarobe said, as PhillyVoice reported. Both Hoagland and Warren are charged with attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, kidnapping, and related offenses and are currently held on $1 million bail.

Further investigations revealed over a hundred disturbing videos and text messages on the couple's devices detailing the abuse. As per FOX 29, Warren's past includes a conviction for endangering the welfare of a child, connected to the beating death of a two-year-old in her care, despite her son being found healthy and removed from the home after Malinda's death. The DA indicated that this case could lead to additional charges as the full extent of the heinous acts comes to light.

"If there's something to take from this right now it's that if you have concerns about the safety of a child, even of a child that you hardly know, you should say something," de Barrena-Sarobe urged the public in a statement obtained by FOX 29. The tragic case continues to unfold, painting a grim picture of the circumstances that led to the untimely death of young Malinda.
