A 19-year-old Chicago man was charged with armed robbery, police said Friday. Marvin White of the 1500 block of N. Lawler Ave. was accused of robbing a woman at gunpoint back in March.
White was arrested on May 8, two months after the alleged incident in which he reportedly took property from a 26-year-old female victim. The crime occurred in the 2100 block of W. North Ave. in the city's 14th District. Authorities said White was one of the offenders involved in the daylight robbery.
At a detention hearing Friday at the courthouse at 2600 S. California, White faced a judge to answer one felony count - Robbery - Armed with a Firearm. According to the Chicago Police Department's press release, the suspect was positively identified as part of the investigation that led to his apprehension earlier this week.
The circumstances of White's arrest were not disclosed, but law enforcement moved quickly to place him into custody once he was pinpointed as an alleged participant in the robbery. No further details have been made available at this point, as the case is ongoing, police said.
