In the dead of night, a routine traffic stop on Chino Hills Parkway escalated into a high-stakes chase as a felon, later identified as Francisco Cabral, age 38, attempted to flee on foot. The incident unfolded near State Route 71 in Chino Hills and ended with Cabral's apprehension and the recovery of a loaded shotgun and revolver handgun, as reported by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department.

Deputies initiated the stop on May 5 at approximately 12:35 AM for what appeared to be routine vehicle violations. However, chaos ensued when Cabral decided to quickly dash away from law enforcement, leading officers on a chase that concluded dramatically on the freeway. It was during this pursuit that officers observed Cabral desperately throw away a duffel bag, which later was discovered to contain the firearms.

Upon the conclusion of this sudden pursuit, Cabral was taken into custody. A subsequent search revealed the wanted status of the Corona resident, who had an outstanding felony warrant out of Los Angeles County for narcotic violations. These recent charges add to his rap sheet, now including being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, for which he has been booked at West Valley Detention Center.
