Coral Springs WWII Vet Celebrates 100th Birthday with Simple Secret to Longevity: 'Be Happy'Source: Instagram/Coral Springs Police

CORAL SPRINGS, FLA. — Local hero and centenarian, Bart Inzalaco, hit a monumental milestone as he celebrated his 100th birthday, surrounded by family, friends, and the Coral Springs first responders who have quite the track record for throwing block parties. During the festivities, Inzalaco, a World War II veteran of the 95th Bomb Group Squadron 412, offered a simple yet invaluable piece of advice for a long, happy life: "Just one thing: be happy," according to a report by WSVN.

The bash, which took place on Thursday, was as much an homage to Inzalaco's past service as it was a birthday celebration. The Coral Springs Police Department and the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department both honored the veteran, who flew over 35 missions in Germany aboard a Boeing B-17 during the war. In a statement obtained by the local police department's Instagram, they expressed their pride in celebrating "Bart's legacy and service," which they deemed "an inspiration to us all."

Inzalaco's daughter, Charlene Phillips, joined the community to celebrate her father's 100 years, emphasizing the rarity and blessing of having a parent around for so long. Inzalaco himself attributed his longevity and happiness to one key element: "It’s family, don’t let anyone kid ya." This is not the first time the local first responders have celebrated with Bart; they previously celebrated his 96th birthday with similar fanfare in 2020, as per WSVN.

As the event drew to a close, there was talk of yet another celebration for the following year. When asked by 7News reporter Alex Browning about hitting 101, Bart responded with his characteristic optimism, "Oh, yea!" Friends and family alike hope to honor the veteran's storied life yet again, as his tale remains not merely one of survival, but one that underscores love, a soldier's fortitude, and an unshakeable dedication to kin, according to WSVN.
