A devastating collision between a cement truck and a passenger vehicle near Buda this Thursday morning has left one person with critical injuries. The incident occurred on SH 45 and forced a portion of the highway to shut down, according to officials.

Emergency teams rushed to the scene shortly after 8 a.m. near the Turnersville Road intersection after reports of a vehicle that had plummeted down an embankment following the crash. CBS Austin reported that firefighters worked to free the injured party from the wreck. Critically injured, they were then transported by Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS) to Ascension Seton Hays hospital.
ATCEMS first detailed the accident, mentioning that a "cement truck vs vehicle" collision had taken place, with the car ending up down an embankment. They advised drivers to expect traffic delays and closures in the vicinity. Initially, a helicopter service, STAR Flight, was set to assist but was later canceled. This led to a delay in attending to the critically injured victim, as per the ATCEMS.
In a subsequent update, authorities revealed that the specialized rescue team, ESD-11, successfully extricated the accident victim. The adult, marked as a trauma alert, was reported to have sustained life-threatening injuries. While the patient was being prepped for transportation to the hospital, ATCEMS ultimately left the crash site, confirming that no further updates would be available.
