Gunmen Unleash AK47 Hell on Bexar Home, 4-Year-Old Dead, Family Wounded; Sheriff Vows JusticeSource: Facebook/Bexar County Sheriff's Office

A hail of gunfire shattered the quiet of a Northeast Bexar County neighborhood Wednesday night, leaving a 4-year-old girl dead and her family critically wounded. According to FOX San Antonio, home surveillance footage released by Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar shows two gunmen approaching and firing upon a house on Windsor Hollow Dr. The brutal attack also left the young girl's parents and two siblings, ages 7 and 8, hospitalized with serious injuries.

The culprits, still at large, unleashed a barrage of 7.62 rounds from their Draco AK47 rifles, described by Salazar as having a particularly devastating effect on impact. During a press conference, the Sheriff vowed to seek justice, saying "Is it going to give me great pleasure to charge both of these two guys with capital murder when the time comes, absolutely it's going to," he told reporters. A witness described the scene as terrifying, hearing screams following a sudden flurry of gunshots, according to a neighbor's account obtained by FOX San Antonio.

In a second release of information by the local authorities, News 4 San Antonio reported that the shooting occurred just after 7:30 p.m. The suspects, captured on video, are said to have fired 20-25 times into the front door, leaving it resembling "swiss cheese," as Sheriff Salazar put it. The adult victim, seen standing on the porch, narrowly avoided being shot as the gunmen opened fire.

Investigators are working under the premise that the shooters knew children were present in the home. Sheriff Salazar expressed his grim determination, saying "At this point, I'm working on the premise that whoever shot the house knew that there were kids inside and I'll be honest with you, this case could go if God forbid that child would come to pass or one of those children should pass away that the charge is easily going to be upgraded to capital murder." The office suggested a possible motive, revealing that one of the victims might have been exchanging text messages with one of the shooters prior to the attack, as told to News 4 San Antonio.

The search for the suspects intensifies as the Bexar County Sheriff's Office urges anyone with information to come forward. The suspected getaway car is a dark grey Infiniti Q50. The sheriff's department has allocated a significant portion of their resources towards the apprehension of the assailants, with Sheriff Salazar promising that charges of capital murder are forthcoming.
