The Knoxville Police Department has released body-camera footage of the officer-involved shooting that occurred on April 17 at an Exxon gas station. The video captures the critical moments leading up to the shooting of William Charles McBride Jr. by Officer Seth Beeler, who was responding to a call about a man acting erratically inside the store, as detailed on the KPD's official website.

Officer Beeler, arriving at 5306 N. Broadway, was informed by a witness that McBride was carrying two knives. The situation quickly escalated when McBride, appearing to brandish a knife at the witness, ran out of the store and seemed to rapidly move toward Officer Beeler, prompting the officer to swiftly discharge his weapon. The video, which is graphic in nature and may be disturbing to viewers, is available for public viewing on the KPD's website, with a cautionary note advising viewer discretion.

After the incident, footage shows responding officers and KFD medical personnel providing aid to McBride. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, in accordance with standard procedures, is spearheading the inquiry into the shooting, while the KPD’s Office of Professional Standards is carrying out an internal administrative investigation. As the investigations proceed, Officer Beeler has been placed on routine administrative leave.
