Milton Design Review Board to Consider 6 Demolition Requests, Review Fire Station 45 PlansSource: City of Milton

The Milton Design Review Board is slated to review a total of six demolition requests and the revised architectural and site plans for the upcoming Fire Station 45 at its meeting on Tuesday. Attendees can either show up in person at the City Hall's Council Chambers or tune in online to take part in the proceedings, as reported by the City of Milton's official website.

The public meeting, scheduled to commence at 6 p.m., is a critical step in the City's public hearing process, providing a forum to discuss and make decisions on significant alterations to existing structures and new developments within the municipality. Among the agenda items, the Design Review Board will notably be the only City committee to cast a vote on the proposed demolition requests.

Areas set to potentially face the wrecking ball include properties like 12245 King Circle, a brick house on a 3.2-acre plot in the Sweet Apple district. Similarly threatened structures span locations on Freemanville Road, Hagood Road, Cogburn Road, Broadwell Road, and Hopewell Road. Yet, one demolition request for 15756 Hopewell Road, has already been pulled by the applicant, as indicated by the City of Milton.

Beyond demolition, the Design Review Board is also set to engage in a courtesy review of the architectural designs for phase two of the Chadwick Village commercial development. An updated proposal for Milton Fire Station 45, which includes an amended site/landscape plan and options for adding dormers, will further be discussed. The revised design for a 123 Fitness building on Highway 9 will also come under scrutiny, featuring a relocated and screened exterior staircase.

To cap off the discussions, the City's Zoning Manager, Robyn Macdonald, is prepared to share insights on the historical context and the regulatory approach towards demolitions in Milton. This briefing seeks to provide participants with a more comprehensive understanding of the procedure and consequence of such decisions within the community.
