San Antonio on High Alert as BB Gun Shooters Target Bus Commuters, Police Investigations Ongoing Source: Google Street View

A disturbing spate of BB gun shootings aiming at unsuspecting bus commuters has San Antonio residents on edge. According to a witness account on the Nextdoor app, a pair of men were shot with a BB gun after alighting a bus on Goliad Road near East Southcross, on a Wednesday afternoon. A gray Dodge Charger harboring two individuals, one masked with a ski mask, drove by and opened fire, causing the men to scramble for safety, KENS 5 reports.

"They are targeting helpless people just getting off the bus," the witness, who remained anonymous, expressed concern. The harrowing incident recalls a similar event from a year prior, in the same vicinity, involving a relative of the witness. Roman Garcia, another victim of this unnerving trend, recounted his ordeal after leaving a Gold's Gym on Goliad Road. He heard the ping of metal hitting a surface, only to realize he was the target of BB gun fire, according to his statement obtained by KENS 5.

Garcia managed to evade getting hit by making a quick exit to a nearby parking lot. He suspects the shooters dispersed after seeing him brandish his phone. Now, the chilling occurrences have sparked a wave of unrest within the community, with more individuals sharing experiences of similar assaults. They're now echoing Garcia's advice for heightened vigilance and caution.

The trend has not only left physical marks but has instigated a stern warning from the witness. "They're going to find that at some point, there's going to be a citizen that is not going to discern whether it's a gun, or not. You see a gun pointed at, you know somebody with a legitimate reason to shoot back, will shoot back," the witness cautioned in the interview with KENS 5. Active police reports have been filed concerning these incidents yet, at the time of writing, the San Antonio Police have not provided any updates on arrests or progress in the investigations.
