Search Escalates for Woman Missing Over a Month in Greeneville's Viking MountainSource: Greene County Sheriff’s Department

The search intensifies for Jennifer Elliott, a 31-year-old woman reported missing by her family on May 2, after last being seen over a month ago on Viking Mountain in Greeneville, Tennessee. According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Elliott, described as a 5-foot-2 white female with brown hair, has been unaccounted for since her mother received a call on March 22 with Elliott claiming she was stuck and needed a ride, WATE reported.

Following the distressing call to Elliott's mother; officials immediately conducted a search, eventually making contact with an acquaintance of Elliott's named Anthony Walton, who stated she had run into the woods surrounding Viking Mountain Road, "she had run off into the woods," Walton explained in a statement obtained by WGRV, despite efforts her whereabouts remains a mystery, with officers unable to find any trace of her since the day she disappeared. Elliott, who also has green eyes, has sparked widespread concern and the sheriff’s department is urging anyone with information to come forward.

Authorities have noted that nearly 400 people go missing in Tennessee annually acquiring a ratio of five people per 100,000 missing, as WATE reported. The Greene County Sheriff's Department has extended their request, imploring the public to assist by checking the list of people missing from East Tennessee provided by WJHL, in the hopes that some may recognize and provide valuable information on Elliott's current location or the circumstances leading to her sudden disappearance.

The sheriff’s department is asking anyone with potential leads to contact Detective Sgt. Toby Price at 423-798-1800.
