Young Woman Seriously Injured in Violent Rollover Crash in SpringfieldSource: Google Street View

A woman in her 20s was hospitalized with serious injuries after her car violently flipped over in a Springfield crash, authorities reported. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, saw the woman's vehicle leave the road and rollover, eventually coming to rest on its roof after traveling more than 100 feet.

The Springfield Police Department, Robertson County EMS, and Springfield Fire Department were all dispatched to the scene at the intersection of Black Patch Road and Allison Lane after the first 911 call came in at 1:22 a.m. The driver was trapped inside the overturned vehicle and had to be extracted by firefighters. "Officials told Smokey Barn News that the woman had serious injuries but was still able to communicate with medics that took her to Skyline Medical Center."

WSMV stated that investigators are currently looking into what caused the car to veer off the roadway and hit the small concrete walkway bridge that ostensibly led to the rollover.

Once freed from the wreckage, the injured woman was transported to TriStar Skyline Medical Center for trauma services, as confirmed by Robertson County EMS. "First responders said they arrived at the scene and found a car flipped over in a ditch with a woman, believed to be in her 20s, trapped inside with 'potentially serious injuries,'" according to WKRN.

The severity of the crash brought additional manpower to the scene to assist with the extraction, indicating the extent of the vehicular damage and the precariousness of the rescue effort. The Springfield Police Department is continuing the investigation into the precise cause of the tragically violent incident.
