Time for another look at notable crimes reported in the Tenderloin Station district in the two weeks since our last roundup. Unless otherwise noted, all details are from SFPD reports.

Physical altercation escalates to stabbing

Two men, one 24 and the other said to be in his thirties, started fighting near the intersection of Golden Gate Avenue and Hyde Street around 10:40 p.m. on April 18.

The older man stabbed the victim before fleeing north on Hyde toward Turk Street. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, but no arrest has been made.

Alleged debtor attacked, phone destroyed

Around 1:30 p.m. on April 18 on the 100 block of Hyde street (near Golden Gate Avenue), a 24-year-old man overheard two men he knew, aged 24 and 29, saying he owed them money.

The older suspect held the victim still while the second suspect punched him and stole money from his pockets. The older suspect kicked the victim, took his cell phone, and destroyed it, but both suspects were arrested. 

Man’s nose bloodied during three-on-one robbery

A 34-year-old man was walking outside of 16 Turk St. at around 1:40 a.m. on April 17 when he was struck from behind and attacked by three men said to be 18 to 25 years old.

After the suspects stole his phone, watch, wallet, and cash, they fled in an unknown direction and the victim refused treatment for a bloody nose. 

Shopper robbed by three men 

Around 4:58 a.m. on April 15, a 37-year-old man left a store near the intersection of Larkin and Turk streets and was attacked by three men said to be around 20 years old.

The suspects stole the man’s backpack, containing his laptops, and fled by vehicle. The California Highway Police pursued the suspects but no arrests have been made. 

Tent fight leads to stabbing 

A 49-year-old man got into a fight with an unknown suspect inside a tent near the intersection of Leavenworth Street and Golden Gate Avenue around 12:19 a.m. on April 14. The suspect cut the man with a knife before fleeing north on Leavenworth, and the victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Man arrested trying to steal DVD player

Around 7:30 p.m. on April 14, a 35-year-old man was walking near the intersection of 9th and Mission streets when a 34-year-old man tried to rob the older man of his laptop and DVD player. Police from Tenderloin Station arrived while the robbery was occurring and arrested the suspect.

Unknown shooter injures man 

Around 9:07 p.m. on April 11, a man was shot near the intersection of Golden Gate Avenue and Hyde Street. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries but the suspect has not been identified.

Man knocked out by punch

A 51-year-old man was walking on the 1000 block of Market Street (near Taylor) around 6:50 p.m. on April 10 when a 33-year-old man punched him. The victim lost consciousness and fell to the ground, and the suspect was later arrested.

Man arrested after bottle attack

A 40-year-old man approached a 52-year-old man from behind around 5:12 p.m. on April 10 near the intersection of Jones and O’Farrell streets. The younger man struck the older man with a bottle, and was arrested. 

Good Samaritan seriously injured in stabbing

Around 9:08 p.m. on April 8, a 46-year-old man tried to break up a fight when he was stabbed by a 66-year-old man. The older man also hit the victim with a stick, and was later arrested. The victim was taken to the hospital for life-threatening injuries.

Man robs woman, flees in car

A 79-year-old woman was sitting on the 400 block of Jones Street (near O’Farrell) around 4:00 p.m. on April 8 when a man said to be in his early twenties grabbed her purse and fled into a waiting car. He got away with the woman’s purse and its contents, including cash, and has not been identified.

Elderly man stabs victim on the wrist

During an argument near the intersection of Eddy and Mason streets around 12:51 p.m. on April 8, a man said to be in his late seventies stabbed a 41-year-old man on the wrist. The suspect fled and has not been identified.
