August Hall faces delays, relocates debut showsPhotos: Carrie Sisto/Hoodline

Located in the heart of Union Square, the city's newest music venue has relocated or canceled multiple shows due to construction delays.

Three April performances booked for August Hall have been moved to other venues across the city or cancelled, including Sunday’s Face to Face 25th anniversary tour show with Less than Jake.

The new space is still slated to host Griffage on Saturday, May 5 and a sold out show with Courtney Barnett opened by Bay Area singer-songwriter Jay Som on May 6, but construction appears to still be very much underway.

Workers were carrying material into August Hall on Sunday, April 29.

When reached for comment, August Hall spokesperson Megan Zamiska told Hoodline there were "no updates yet."

August Hall is moving into a space vacated last year by the former Ruby Skye nightclub, turning the underground bar Slide into a restaurant and bowling alley.

Ruby Skye's former marquee has been replaced.

The new venue is named after the historic building's architect, and the renovations underway are the first major modifications to the space since  reconstruction was completed after the 1906 earthquake.

The restaurant below the music venue, Fifth Arrow, is also slated to open this month, said Zamiska. Chef Joey Booterbaugh, previously from Los Angeles’ Bar Angeles and Cafe Birdie, has been selected to develop a slate of California-Italian fusion offerings.

The former 1930s speakeasy will specialize in seasonal pizzas and shared plates, along with a three-lane bowling alley. Happy hour will start at 4:00pm, with dinner served from 5:00pm-11:00pm and a late-night menu offered from 11:00pm-1:00am, Monday through Friday.

Food and beverage operations for both Fifth Arrow and August Hall, which will share a main lobby, is being conducted by Jordan Dunn, formerly of Padrecito.

The new music hall and its downstairs restaurant are being developed by Nate Valentine (Harper & Rye, The Tipsy Pig, Mamacita), Scott Murphy and Chad Donnelly (Snowglobe Music Festival), and Justin Roja (Redford, Rambler and Barry’s Bootcamp).
