Here are some notable incidents that have taken place since our last biweekly recap covering SFPD's Central District, which encompasses Chinatown, Financial District, Embarcadero, Russian, Telegraph and Nob Hills, North Beach, and Union Square.

Alleged job seeker robs staff at gunpoint

On May 29 just before 6 p.m. on the 100 block of Montgomery Street in the FiDi, a 21-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint by an unknown man in his forties.

According to police, the suspect visited a business to ask about employment, left, and later returned. Once inside, he walked into a back room, pulled out a gun and demanded cash. The victim took money out of a safe and cash register and handed it to the suspect, who fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. 

Teen attacked and robbed near bus terminal

In Russian Hill near the intersection of North Point Street and Van Ness Avenue on May 28 at 7:18 p.m., an 18-year-old man was robbed. 

The victim was walking when three unknown male suspects exited a car and threw him to the ground. The suspects then assaulted the victim and stole his backpack, which contained a camera, wallet, cash and medication. 

The victim suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. 

Elderly man knocked unconscious by unknown suspect

On the 400 block of Stockton Street near Union Square, a 77-year-old man was assaulted on May 28 at 11:40 a.m.

The victim was struck by an unknown suspect while in the area and lost consciousness, according to police. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made. 

Man injured during robbery 

On May 27 at 3 a.m. on the 700 block of Post Street in Lower Nob Hill, a 28-year-old man was injured when he was robbed by a suspect in his fifties. 

According to reports, the victim told the suspect to "stop bothering people," but it's unclear what led to the exchange. The suspect then grabbed the victim and demanded he hand over money. The victim gave him his credit cards and the suspect left the scene. 

The victim suffered minor injuries during the incident and was transported to a hospital for treatment. 

Suspect robs Financial District bank at gunpoint

On May 26 on the 100 block of Montgomery Street in the FiDi, a male suspect in his twenties robbed a bank.

The suspect walked up to the counter, pointed a handgun at a 24-year-old employee and demanded cash. The employee handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled with on foot in an unknown direction. 

No arrests or injuries were reported in the incident. 

Victim struck with unknown object, robbed

Near the corner of California and Battery Streets in the FiDi on May 26 at 4:37 a.m., a 35-year-old man was attacked and robbed by an unknown suspect. 

A suspect approached the victim from behind and struck him with an unknown object causing injury. the suspect then stole the victim's wallet and fled the scene in an unknown direction. 

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. 

Unknown suspect lights fire in front of Union Square business

Police responded to reports of a fire May on 25 at 4:30 a.m. on the 100 block of Maiden Lane near Union Square. 

A manager of a business told police they "found burn marks on the door mat." Video surveillance revealed that an unknown male suspect was "camped in front of the store lighting a fire." 

Suspect arrested for phone robbery

In Nob Hill near the corner of Joice and California Streets on May 23 at 10:27 p.m., a 29-year-old woman was robbed by a 20-year-old male suspect. 

The victim was walking with her phone in her hand when the suspect ran up to her, snatched the device, and fled on foot. Officers in the area apprehended the suspect and took him into custody. 

No injuries were reported in the incident.
