Here’s a look at recent police reports from SFPD's Bayview District, which includes Potrero Hill, Dogpatch, Portola, Bayview and Hunters Point.

Unless otherwise noted, all information comes from the department's daily crime recaps.

Fatal shooting near elementary school

On June 4 at 11:11 a.m., a Bayview elementary school was placed on lockdown after an unknown suspect fatally shot a victim nearby.

The incident occurred on the 1500 block of Oakdale Avenue near George Washington Carver Elementary school, where the victim, identified as Jevon Cael, suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Here's our full story.

Man in critical condition after collision

On June 13 at 2:09 pm on the 500 block of 28th Street, a man was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after his car collided with a vehicle driven by a 35-year-old woman. 

Shampoo thief pepper-sprays store clerk

On June 11 at 10:40 a.m. on the unit block of Bayshore Boulevard, a 56-year-old woman entered a store and allegedly began stealing bottles of shampoo. When a 54-year-old female employee intervened, the suspect pulled out pepper spray and sprayed the clerk. 

Although the suspect attempted to flee, police arrested her at the scene.

Suspect stabs man with comb handle

On June 11 at 12:10 p.m. at the intersection of Gilman Avenue and Third Street, a 33-year-old man was stabbed by a man in his forties who used the metal handle of a comb. The victim was transported to a hospital, and the suspect was not arrested.

Teen confronts home intruders

A 15-year-old male resident was in his home on the 5000 block of Mansell Street on June 7 at 1:55 p.m. when he heard a noise. Upon investigating, he was confronted by two male intruders who fled the scene in an unknown direction. 

Armed teen robs man after firing warning shot

On June 5 on the 1600 block of Shafter Avenue at 10:56 pm, a 16-year-old male suspect approached a 41-year-old man and demanded his money. When he refused, the teen pulled out a gun and fired a shot in the air.

After the victim emptied his pockets, which contained his cellphone, the suspect fled and was not arrested.

Three men shot in drive-by

On June 2 at 1:03 a.m. near the intersection of Pomona and Bayview Streets, three men were standing in front of a house when an unknown suspect drove past and opened fire and fled west on Bayview.

Three victims were transferred to the hospital, two of whom suffered life-threatening injuries. Police are still seeking the shooter. 

Woman dies in fatal collision after stealing car

On May 29, a woman driving Third Street and Arthur Avenue died after the stolen car she was driving struck another vehicle and a stationary object.

According to KPIX, the victim, later identified as 25-year old San Francisco resident Chelsea Cole, had carjacked a taxi immediately before the crash occurred.

Man Stabbed On Muni Bus

On May 24 at 9:10 a.m. near the intersection of Third Street and Evans Avenue, a physical altercation between three men escalated when one stabbed a man in his sixties who was involved in the fracas.

The victim was transported to a hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening wounds. The suspect was not arrested.

Bayview Station's monthly community meeting is held on the first Monday of the month at 201 Williams St. The next meeting will be held on July 2 at 6pm.
