Here's a selection of crimes that have occurred in Hayes Valley and the Western Addition since our last roundup in early July. All reports were provided by SFPD, unless otherwise noted.

Camera robbed at knifepoint

On July 31 at 5 p.m., two men, ages 25 to 30, with knives approached a 26-year-old man on the 400 block of Buchanan Street and demanded his camera. The two suspects then fled southbound.

Camera robbed at bus stop

At 2:20 p.m. one day earlier, an 18 to 25-year-old woman and a man of the same age approached a 17-year-old man waiting for the bus at Geary Boulevard and Webster Street. After the suspects grabbed his camera, the victim and the male suspect began to struggle over the property, which resulted in the victim getting knocked down.

The male suspect took the camera and a cell phone, and both suspects fled the scene eastbound on Geary. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Early-morning assault and robbery

A 28-year-old man was assaulted and robbed at Hayes and Franklin streets on July 29 shortly before 4 a.m. Two suspects, both between 20 and 30 years of age, stole the victim's property, including a cell phone, jacket, wallet, and fled the scene. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital.

Early-morning retaliation

A man, 54, was struck from behind at 5:45 a.m. July 23 on the 1500 block of Fillmore Street after he called another man a derogatory term. The victim, who did not see the suspect, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Late-night assault and robbery

When a 55-year-old man was walking to his hotel a few minutes after midnight on July 19, a 40-year-old man tackled him on the corner of Geary Boulevard and Webster Street. The suspect then stole a cell phone and wallet from the victim's pockets and fled in an unknown direction. The victim suffered a laceration below the eye but refused medical treatment.

Burglar poses as security guard

A 40-year-old man posing as a security guard robbed a woman's room on the 1800 block of Buchanan Street around 5:30 p.m. July 15. While "checking" the room, with the 29-year-old victim inside, the suspect took her wallet and fled in an unknown direction.
