Here’s a roundup of the notable crimes, responded to by the Tenderloin police station, that have occurred since our last recap. All information comes from SFPD reports unless otherwise noted.

Robbery suspect caught on scene

Around 8 a.m. August 9th, a 39-year-old man snatched money from another 39-year-old man’s hand near the corner of O’Farrell and Larkin streets. The suspect was arrested immediately, and the victim’s money was returned to him at the scene.

Arrest after broom handle attack

Around 11:55 a.m. August 8th, a 63-year-old man was walking near the intersection of Jones and Ellis streets when a 40-year-old man approached him and accused him of something. A dispute ensued and the younger man hit the older man on the head with a broom handle. The victim suffered a 2-inch cut on his forehead, and the suspect was arrested. 

Cleaner steals two laptops

A woman said to be in her late twenties, who is an employee of a cleaning company, allegedly used her access key to gain access to a 47-year-old man’s living and bed rooms on the unit block of 10th Street (near Market). The man was asleep in his bedroom when the woman entered and stole two laptops. No arrest has been made. 

Women stabbed in argument

Around 12:51 a.m. August 6th, two women, one 47 and one 24, got into a physical argument with a 26-year-old man near the intersection of 7th and Market streets. During the fight, both women were stabbed and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was located and taken into custody.

Backpack hijack

A 40-year-old man was walking near the intersection of 6th and Market streets around 8 a.m. on August 4th when he was attacked by two men said to be in their forties. The suspects stole the victim’s backpack, fled on foot, and have not been identified.

Slit and split

A 25-year-old man was near the intersection of 8th and Market streets around 3:20 p.m. on August 1st, when a man said to be in his thirties approached him and cut his throat with a knife. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, but no arrest has been made. 

Man robbed in two-on-one attack 

Around 9 p.m. on July 30th, a 61-year-old man near the intersection of Eddy and Taylor streets was approached by two men said to be 35 years old, one of which asked the man for money. Both suspects hit the victim, stole his wallet and fled the scene. No arrests have been made. 

Young man arrested after cellphone robbery

A 23-year-old man walking on the 1000 block of Market Street (near Taylor) was approached by an 18-year-old male who grabbed his cellphone and pushed him. The suspect fled but was later located and arrested, and the phone was returned to its owner.

Unidentified wallet robbers

Around 5:20 p.m. July 29th, a 21-year-old man was assaulted by five unidentified men on the 500 block of Stevenson Street (near 6th). The suspects stole his wallet and have not been identified.

Man robbed from behind in two-on-one attack

A 37-year-old man was walking near the intersection of O’Farrell and Larkin streets around 1:40 a.m. July 29th when one suspect grabbed his arms from behind and a second stole his phone, wallet and cash. Both suspects fled on foot and have not been apprehended.
