On Saturday, an 85-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle in the intersection of 6th and Mission streets. The incident occurred at 4:55 p.m.

The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital, police said.

The driver, a 47-year-old man, fled the scene in his vehicle, but was later located by police officers and arrested.

The intersection of 6th and Mission streets has been identified as a high-injury corridor under the city's Vision Zero plan, which aims to eliminate traffic fatalities by 2024. 

Earlier this month, a 27-year-old man also suffered life-threatening injuries in another SoMa hit-and-run collision, at 7th and Natoma streets. 

Back in September, Modesto Figuerido, 61, was killed by a drunk driver while walking near the intersection of 9th and Howard streets.

And in March, two people suffered life-threatening injuries in separate hit-and-run collisions in SoMa.
