It's time for the last look at notable recent crimes and related incidents in the Tenderloin this year.

The crimes below reflect incidents since our last roundup that have been responded to by the Tenderloin Police Station but not previously reported by Hoodline. All details of the Tenderloin Station’s activities come directly from SFPD reports, unless otherwise noted.

Victim's phone taken in robbery at gunpoint

Around 6:25 a.m. on Dec. 23, a man reported to be in his 30s pushed a 27-year-old man up against a wall near the intersection of Turk and Taylor streets and demanded his property. The victim handed over his phone, but the suspect pulled out a gun and demanded he hand over more of his belongings before fleeing the area on foot. 

Pedestrian struck by vehicle

A 55-year-old man was crossing the street on the 500 block of Eddy Street (near Hyde) around 9:22 p.m. on Dec. 20 when a 60-year-old driver struck him with his vehicle. The driver remained on scene and the victim was taken to the hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

SFPD seek public's help in identifying assault suspect 

Tenderloin Police Station investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of punching a 38-year-old man around 1 p.m. on Dec. 18 near the intersection of Market and Mason streets.

The suspect knocked the victim to the ground and stomped on his head as he lay on the sidewalk before fleeing on foot heading north on Mason Street. On Dec. 20, police released two photos of the suspect from a nearby surveillance camera, but no additional details were available.

Man attacked from behind with metal pipe

At 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 19, a 71-year-old man near the intersection of Sixth and Jones streets was struck in the back of the head with a metal pipe by one of two unknown male suspects. The victim was treated for cuts to the back of his head and eyebrow and then released from a local hospital. No arrests have been made. 

Man surrounded, robbed in five-on-one assault

A 20-year-old man was surrounded by five men said to be in their 20s at around 3 p.m. on Dec. 19 on the 900 block of Market Street (near Powell). The suspects reportedly punched and kicked the victim several times, causing him to fall to the ground, before stealing his bike, phone, and a vape pen. The suspects fled on foot and have not been identified. 

Victim flees after four-on-one robbery

Around 3:15 a.m. on Dec. 19, a man in his 30s approached a 26-year-old man with a knife near the intersection of Turk and Taylor streets. 

The unknown male suspect put the victim in a headlock while three other men,  one in his 30s, one 18 and another unknown, stole the victim’s cellphone, wallet, money, ID cards, and headphones. The victim fled on foot and the suspects remain at large. 

Co-worker stabbed after trying to break up fight

A 25-year-old male suspect allegedly got into a fight with an employee at a store near the intersection of Market and Seventh streets around 9:25 p.m. on Dec. 18 when a co-worker stepped in to break up the altercation. During the incident, the suspect stabbed the co-worker and then fled the scene on foot. 

Women robbed in three-on-one attack

Around 3:55 a.m. on Dec. 18, three women in their 30s approached a 33-year-old woman on the 200 block of Jones Street (near Turk), punched her in the face, stole her phone, and fled on foot. The victim refused treatment for a cut lip, and no arrests have been made. 

Fight in line leads to robbery at gunpoint

A 22-year-old man got into an argument with three suspects — two men said to be aged 29 and 22 and a woman approximately 28 years old — over a spot in line outside of a store on the 900 block of Market Street (near Powell) around 12:50 a.m. on Dec. 18. The older male suspect pointed a gun at the victim and stole his phone, wallet, and car keys. All three suspects fled and have not been identified. 

Woman attacked, robbed near Union Square

A man and woman in their 50s attacked a 62-year-old woman near the intersection of Cyril Magnin and Market streets around 4 p.m. on Dec. 17 and stole money from her purse. The victim suffered a cut to her head but refused medical treatment. 

Elderly man choked, robbed in morning attack

Around 8:45 a.m. on Dec. 16, a man in his early 20s approached an 84-year-old man from behind near the intersection of Ellis and Leavenworth streets. The suspect allegedly put the victim in a chokehold and stole money from his pocket before fleeing the scene. 

Woman loses phone to teenager after struggle

A male suspect in his late teens approached a 27-year-old woman on the 800 block of Market street around 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 16 and grabbed the woman’s phone. The victim struggled to hold on, but the suspect was ultimately able to abscond with the device. 

Employee foils bank robbery on Market Street

At 11:40 p.m. on Dec. 15, a man in his late 20s or early 30s entered a bank on the 1200 block of Market Street (near Eighth), approached an employee with an unknown weapon, and demanded cash. 

The employee activated an alarm and did not comply with the suspect’s request. The man fled the scene and has not been identified.  

Woman attacks man with his own metal pipe

Around 1:11 p.m. on Dec. 12, a 39-year-old man grabbed a metal pipe and demanded a 40-year-old woman leave his property. The woman then snatched the pipe and hit him multiple times. The victim was treated on the scene for an elbow injury and the woman was arrested.
