Six people were injured, two of them critically, in a two-alarm fire in the Outer Mission early this morning.

The fire, which occurred in two residential buildings at 70 and 72 Liebig St. (at San Jose Avenue), was first reported on Wednesday at 12:18 a.m., the San Francisco Fire Department said.

The blaze in the pair of two-story structures has displaced a total of 17 individuals, although officials said that number might still rise.

Among the six injured people are a child and a firefighter, both of whom sustained minor injuries. Two of the four adults rescued from the fire have been hospitalized in critical condition; the other two also sustained minor injuries.

The fire was brought under control by 1:45 a.m. SFFD representatives said that city services have been requested to assist those that are not able to return to their homes.

No cause has been given as of yet for the blaze, which remains under investigation. We'll update as we learn more.
