Tragedy struck San Leandro in the early morning of March 25 as flames engulfed a family home on 135th Street. The blaze originated from a garage and spread rapidly, causing significant damage. Fast-acting firefighters from the Alameda County Fire Department managed to quickly contain and douse the blaze, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.

The sudden inferno left five adults and three children without a home, their lives upend by the disruptive force of nature. The American Red Cross is stepping in to provide much-needed assistance to the displaced individuals. In a tragedy within a tragedy, the family's cat perished in the fire. While the loss of their pet is a heartbreaking setback, no other injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
