The first incident, which unfolded on the afternoon of April 5, 2024, saw a trio consisting of one male and two females brazenly attempt to boldly walk out of a store located on South Main Street with unpaid merchandise. When store employees confronted the trio, the male suspect flashed a taser to threaten the employees, successfully making off with the stolen items. Quick collaboration between Loss Prevention and officers led to the arrest of 35-year-old Antwaun Pollard, while his accomplices managed to dodge capture. According to the LAPD Newsroom, Pollard's bail has been set at $100,000.
Just days later, the lawlessness continued when two female suspects, believed to be part of the same crew, struck again. This time on South Central Avenue, the duo selected merchandise and was confronted by employees as they tried to leave the store. One suspect brandished a Taser while escaping, and both remain at large with their identities and the taser unaccounted for. The LAPD has released a description of the suspects, urging the public to step forward with any information.
The police believe that these crimes are part of a pattern and that there might be more victims out there who have yet to come forward.
