Early Tuesday morning turned perilous for a man at a D.C. bus stop, as he was viciously stabbed and robbed. The incident occurred around 3:30 A.M. on the 4500 block of South Capitol Street when the unidentified victim was attacked by an assailant who fled the scene after committing the crime.

According to FOX 5 DC, the victim suffered a stab wound to the stomach and a punch to the face before being deprived of his iPhone and cash. Police are on the hunt for the suspect, described as wearing dark clothing, and dreadlocks, who was last seen heading west on South Capitol towards Elmira Street.

The aftermath of the violence left the man in need of hospital treatment where he remains. Details regarding his condition have not been disclosed beyond initial reports stating he was conscious and breathing at the time of admission.

As the investigation proceeds, authorities are calling for assistance from anyone with information related to the incident. A mere $50, the price of a modest meal or a tank of gas, was snatched from the victim's pocket, a small sum that underscored the severity and callousness of the attack, said WUSA9
