The anonymous man won the substantial sum in a second chance lottery drawing held on April 4 after he scanned his non-winning 500X Money Maker ticket using the Michigan Lottery app.

The newly-minted winner said, "I’ve been scanning my non-winning tickets to earn entries into the second chance drawing," as per Patch. When he checked his email, he found a message from the Michigan Lottery that he had initially overlooked, informing him of his six-figure windfall. In his eagerness to confirm the win, which he discovered over the weekend, the man dialed the lottery's contact number multiple times, hoping, against the odds that someone might be working overtime to assist him.

"I bet I called 10 times during the weekend hoping I might get lucky and someone would be working overtime and answer the phone," he told the Michigan Lottery, according to WOODTV. Once Monday came around, his winning status was confirmed, and he visited Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim his prize.
