84-Year-Old Woman Fatally Injured in Sunday Morning Collision in NoviSource: Google Street View

An 84-year-old woman from Novi was killed Sunday morning following a vehicle crash on M-5 at 13 Mile Road, Novi police said.

According to WWJ Newsradio, the accident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. when the woman's Buick SUV traveling east on 13 Mile struck a Dodge Ram driven by a 59-year-old man from West Bloomfield, who was going south on M-5. The crash resulted in the elderly woman being found unresponsive and, she was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Dodge sustained minor injuries.

Both local authorities and the Novi Police Department are conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash, which kept M-5 closed for roughly three hours. FOX 2 Detroit also reported that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the incident.

The identity of the woman has not been made public. Law enforcement officials are looking into whether the woman may have run a red light prior to colliding with the pickup truck, and as of now, Patch stated that no further details about the crash have been released by the authorities.
