Glendale's Desert Diamond Arena Set for $40M Revamp with No Interruption to EventsSource: Google Street View

Glendale is getting ready to jazz up the Desert Diamond Arena with a hefty $40 million renovation, and the countdown to construction has begun, slated to kick off in June. Despite the forthcoming dust and detours, Dale Adams, the venue's head honcho, is committed to keeping the show on the road, quite literally, with a cluttered concert calendar to navigate, promising a grand reveal by February 2025 without slamming the doors shut on rockers and rollers amid the facelift. "We schedule all our events so that we can continue with the renovation and finish up in early 2025 without shutting the building down," Adams stated during the April 23 council meeting, as reported by Phoenix Business Journal.

Riding high on its most successful stint in 2023, the arena saw a stampede of fans with attendance ballooning by 119% over the previous year, and the upshot was a surge in gross sales to the tune of 156%, not to mention that the Desert Diamond Arena is now the stomping ground for the Arizona Rattlers, as they dive into the 2024 Indoor Football League season. The facelift, focusing on fan experience, boasts a bevy of bells and whistles from a new convenience market and rentable meeting rooms to a reshuffling of luxury boxes for more hobnobbing space, this according to the latest from Phoenix Business Journal.

With a firm handshake on the financial front, Glendale is chipping in $25 million, while ASM Global, the arena's managing maestro, is throwing in a cool $15 million. "We need a new modern look. We need to move on from what it was. It is a 20-year-old building," Adams said, setting the stage for a futuristic fan paradise.

Attention to detail is at the heart of this overhaul as the arena intends to transform a lowly storage tunnel into a 1,559-square-foot marketplace and the ex-Coyotes' team store into a swank meeting spot complete with a watering hole and exclusive loos not only that but there's even more technology in the works including digital displays and touchless payment options promising a seamless and upgraded spectator sprint. The refashioned suite level will shrink luxury boxes but will add social spaces unprecedented in the Valley, fostering an air of camaraderie among concertgoers and sports fans alike, as Dale Adams pointed out.

While the hammers swing and saws sing, the event calendar at Desert Diamond Arena won’t miss a beat, boasting big names like Blink 182, Kacey Musgraves, Zach Bryan, and Billie Eilish set to light up the stage throughout the remainder of the year.
