Maricopa Development Services Department Earns Praise for Streamlining Building ProcessSource: City of Maricopa

Building in Maricopa just got a little easier, and developers are singing the praises of the city's Development Services Department. In a bustling Arizonan community, where breaks in red tape are as welcome as shade in the desert sun, the department is being hailed as a partner rather than a hurdle in the process of development. "Working with any city through the entitlement and development process is challenging and time-consuming, but the City of Maricopa made it as seamless as possible," Brad Flahiff, VP of Real Estate for AZ Slims, dba Slim Chickens, told the City of Maricopa's website.

The services provided range from residential to commercial, and the department prioritizes not just bricks and mortar, but the fostering of relationships that are as sturdy as the buildings they are helping to erect, working intimately with developers to help realize the city's potential. In the Heritage District, east of the overpass, planners have meticulously carved out a slice of history, fashioning a unique atmosphere that harkens back to the community's earliest days, city staff work hand in glove with developers, ensuring projects not only meet citywide standards but also reflect Maricopa's unique history and identity.

A clear signal of the department's effectiveness is the appointment of a dedicated Project Coordinator, Dania Castillo, who shepherds projects from start to finish. "My primary goal is to facilitate the successful completion of projects by supporting and guiding throughout the entire development process," Castillo explained in a City of Maricopa interview. Her role simplifies the otherwise multifaceted city development procedures and serves as proof of Maricopa's commitment to a pro-business climate.

As Maricopa continues on its upward trajectory, the partnership between the city and developers like Shelter Asset Management Construction Group LLC, which is working on the Home at Maricopa development, stands out. "The knowledgeable and dedicated city staff provide valuable insights and timely responses to comments and questions, showcasing their commitment to our project's success," said Don Leake, Executive Vice President of the construction group, acknowledging the symbiotic relationship that has enabled their endeavors to flourish within the city, the statement was made in recognition of Maricopa's support, which has been crucial in crafting an environment conducive to growth and development.
