An Oakland County motorcyclist lost his life in a tragic collision with a car in Oxford Township, authorities confirmed. The man, identified as 66-year-old Jimmie Allen Haggadone from Orion Township, succumbed to his injuries following the crash on Wednesday afternoon, as reported by The Detroit News.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. on Lapeer Road near Oakwood Road where Haggadone, riding a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle, clashed with a 2012 Toyota Corolla as it turned onto the road, Detroit Free Press disclosed, while the motorcyclist approached a flashing yellow light at the intersection, the driver of the Corolla, a 54-year-old man from Farmington Hills, adhered to a flashing red signal before the fatal turn was made into the motorcycle's pathway.

The violent impact threw Haggadone from his bike, landing him in the road's median, officials said. After the tragic encounter, first responders arrived at the scene, and Haggadone was quickly transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The motorist of the Corolla, however, suffered minor injuries and was later released from the hospital, according to The Oakland Press.

Investigations into the deadly crash are still underway, with a focus on whether speed may have been a contributing factor. It's still unknown if Haggadone was wearing a safety helmet at the time of the crash. This incident marks the second fatal crash reported on Wednesday in Oakland County, following an earlier tragedy in Southfield,
