A man was reportedly assaulted and shot by a gang of teenagers in Kent, with cops on the hunt for the unidentified suspects. The 32-year-old victim was found at the Central Flats apartment complex on Central Avenue North in the wee hours of Wednesday morning after police responded to a 911 call concerning a shooting and robbery, as reported by FOX 13 Seattle.

Upon arrival, police discovered the injured man, who had managed to contact 911 after being shot in the lower back. Another concerned citizen also reported to 911 about hearing gunshots in the area. Despite the shock and chaos of the incident, officers were able to administer life-saving aid before the man was whisked away to the hospital. His current state hangs in the balance, remaining shrouded in uncertainty.

In a separate, yet chillingly similar incident, juveniles are accused of assaulting and shooting a homeless man close to Kent Station, which speaks of a deeper issue of violence in the area that locals wish wasn't the case. "Stuff that has to do with guns, people coming here shooting other people. [There are a lot] of fights that happen here," a local named Delunacruz said, as per KOMO News. After providing initial life-saving measures, the victim was transported to the hospital by fire crews. The details surrounding his condition have yet to be publicized.

This surge of violence has left regular commuters and a local bus driver yearning for a stronger safety presence. "Whatever they can do: police presence showing up like they are now; moving people out that are not catching the bus or just hanging out," a bus driver named Gerald Allen said to KOMO News. According to him, existing security has so far proved ineffective, "Security here doesn’t do anything, that I see, and I’m here twice a week." In reaction, a Sound Transit spokesperson commented that these incidents occurred away from Kent Station and maintained that the premises are secure, and staffed with security at all hours.
