A California man with a prior sex offense conviction is back behind bars after deputies arrested him for possession of child pornography and neglecting to maintain his sex offender registration, authorities said.

San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies apprehended 36-year-old Alexander W. Jessup on May 6 after conducting a probation search at his Emerald Hills home. It was during this search that they reportedly found evidence leading to believe that Jessup had illegal material involving minors and had failed to register as a sex offender as required by law. According to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, Jessup faces several charges, including failure to register as a sex offender, possession of obscene material involving a minor, and violation of probation.

Following the arrest, Jessup was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility. The charges listed against him are PC 190.012 (A), which pertains to the sex registrant’s failure to register, PC 311.11 (A), the possession of obscene material involving a minor, and PC 1203.2 (A), the specific code for probation violation.
