Santa Rosa Police Arrest Two Suspected of Major Meth Trafficking OperationSource: Santa Rosa Police Department

In a calculated sting operation, the Santa Rosa Police Department Narcotics Team cracked down on a local Drug Trafficking Organization, leading to the arrest of two residents on charges of methamphetamine possession for sale and related offenses. Last month, the team initiated an investigation into the DTO believed to be pushing significant quantities of meth in the Santa Rosa area.

Through diligent work, detectives zeroed in on 47-year-old resident Ofelia Mondragon-Carrillo, implicated in the DTO's activities. On the night of May 5, investigators pulled over Mondragon-Carrillo’s companion, 36-year-old Derlyn Aybar-Salgado, on Hwy 101 near Todd Rd. A warranted search of the vehicle revealed about 12 pounds of meth stashed in the trunk, according to a Facebook post by the Santa Rosa Police Department.

The findings from the traffic stop spurred detectives to conduct a subsequent raid at a residence on the 2100 block of Jennings Av, within the walls of Mondragon-Carrillo's vacant bedroom. They discovered an additional pound of meth, packaged with intent to distribute, alongside a digital scale and unused packaging materials. Mondragon-Carrillo was absent during the search, as noted in the police report.

Aybar-Salgado faced the immediate consequences of that night's operation, being booked into the Sonoma County Jail on multiple charges, including possession and transportation of a controlled substance for sale and conspiracy. Meanwhile, with Mondragon-Carrillo still at large, a complaint was requested against her for similar drug violations, along with conspiracy.
