Seattle Police Arrest Five Young Suspects After High-Speed Chase, Alleged Crime WaveSource: Google Street View

Five young car thieves, no older than 15, have been arrested by Seattle police after a high-speed chase concluded with a smash-up in the city's northwest. According to reports from KOMO News, the suspects allegedly tried to quickly get away in a stolen vehicle previously involved in an attempted armed robbery earlier the same day near Princeton Ave NE and Princeton Ave Way.

The pursuit ended in a T-bone collision after the juveniles' vehicle struck a civilian car at NW 80th St and 15th Ave NW. No injuries were reported from the accident. The police managed to take into custody three of the suspects immediately following the crash. One other was nabbed after a brief foot chase, and the final suspect was caught near the scene with the help from Guardian One, the King County Sheriff's Office's helicopter.

Seattle Police told KING5 that the group is suspected to be behind a crime wave spanning several months. Allegations against them include robbery, assault, vehicular assault, and a string of car thefts.

The detained group is comprised of two 15-year-olds, two 12-year-olds, and a 13-year-old. Their prolonged crime spree raises serious concerns about juvenile delinquency and the availability of avenues to prevent young people from turning to a life of crime in Seattle. The involvement of such young individuals in high-stakes criminal activities stands as a grim reminder of the work that remains to be done in community and youth intervention programs.
