Teen Arrested in Connection with Navy Yard CVS Theft, Faces Multiple ChargesSource: Metropolitan Police Department

The spree of teen-related thefts at a Navy Yard CVS has led to another arrest, the Metropolitan Police Department reported. A group of youths had stormed the store, located on the 1100 block of New Jersey Avenue, Southeast, on April 16, roughly at 8:45 p.m., snatching various items and causing a minor fracas that saw one young suspect hurling a bottle at an intervening security guard, narrowly missing. The MPD confirms that the security guard did not sustain any injuries during the incident.

In an announcement on May 2, MPD had captured a 16-year-old male of Northeast, connected to this incident. Despite being below the legal adulthood threshold, he is currently facing a slate of serious charges including Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Burglary 2nd Degree, Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, and Theft 2nd Degree. This follows a string of prior arrests involving six other juveniles related to the same theft, according to the MPD's news release.

Among those previously apprehended are two 14-year-old males, a 15-year-old male, and two 15-year-old females, all from the Southeast, along with another 16-year-old male from the Southeast. Their charges range from Burglary and Theft to Aggravated Assault and Assault on a Police Officer, reflecting the varying degrees of their alleged involvement in the theft and the ensuing commotion at the CVS.

The case is still unfolding as detectives continue their search for additional parties involved in the April theft. The MPD has not yet indicated how many more suspects they believe were involved in the theft, nor have they released specific details about the stolen merchandise or its value. Yet, these youthful indiscretions - theft, conspiracy, and open defiance.
