On July 17th, a fight erupted outside a bar on Geary Street that ended with one man injured and another shot dead. San Francisco Police Homicide Investigators now report that two suspects have been arrested and charged in the crime. 

According to SFPD, patrons were leaving a bar at 950 Geary (that'd be Edinburgh Castle) around 2am, when a physical fight ensued. The dispute had subsided when a car pulled up and a suspect stepped out of the vehicle and fired several shots, hitting the two victims. 

When police arrived at the scene, they found 26-year-old Alameda County resident Joshua Mejia suffering from a gunshot wound. While SFFD tried to render aid, he eventually succumbed to his injuries after being taken to a hospital. 

Mejia worked in a mental health crisis unit for Marin County, according to the Examiner, and is survived by his wife Marlene DeLeon, who said that her husband was just at “the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Through SFPD's investigation, they were able to identify two suspects, Oakland resident Tony Gonzalez, 25, and Francisco Heredia, 23, from San Francisco. Gonzalez was arrested yesterday on the 0-100 block of Sixth Street in the Tenderloin, and Heredia was already in custody at the San Francisco County Jail on unrelated charges.

They were both booked on charges of homicide, attempted homicide, assault with a firearm and conspiracy.
